23.07.2010 Irakli Songulia Elected APLR Director


July 23, 2010, Tbilisi - APLR General Meeting elected Mr. Irakli Songulia as APLR director. Special General Meeting of the Association for Protection of Landowners' Rights was convened to elect APLR new director instead of David Giorgadze, former director, who had resigned after appointment Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. 107 members out of total 136 attended the Meeting.

Authority of director begins from the moment of his election and lasts for the term of four (4) years.

Irakli Songulia has worked for APLR since 2001. He was the deputy director and had been managing several projects related to BTC and SCP pipelines construction in Georgia. Within the scope of these projects registration assistance services, real estate transactions, negotiations with thousands of landowners and issuance of compensations were provided.

Irakli Songulia has prepared and submitted a Resettlement Framework for the Tbilisi Bypass Railway project to the EBRD and Georgian Railways LLC. At the same time, Irakli Songulia manages land acquisition program for Karsi-Akhalkalaki railway corridor, which encompasses development of land acquisition and compensation guide and full technical facilitation for the land acquisition of private land parcels falling within the right of way from Marabda to Kartsakhi area up to Turkish border.   

Irakli Songulia has also managed other large and small scale projects aimed at preparation and implementation of resettlement plans for various infrastructural projects, as well as at real property market development, protection of the right of national minorities, etc.
