08.07.2010 Irakli Songulia is Acting APLR Director


David Giorgadze, Director of the Association for Protection of Landowners’ Rights in 2005-2010 has been appointed Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia since July 5, 2010. According to APLR charter, if the director resigns, deputy director shall act as the head of organization until new director is elected by APLR General Meeting.

Irakli Songulia, current acting director of APLR, has worked for APLR since 2001. He has been managing several projects related to BTC and SCP pipelines construction in Georgia. Within the scope of these projects registration assistance services, real estate transactions, negotiations with thousands of landowners and issuance of compensations were provided.

Irakli Songulia has prepared and submitted a Resettlement Framework for the Tbilisi Bypass Railway project to the EBRD and Georgian Railways LLC. At the same time, Irakli Songulia manages land acquisition program for Karsi-Akhalkalaki railway corridor, which encompasses development of land acquisition and compensation guide and full technical facilitation for the land acquisition of private land parcels falling within the right of way from Marabda to Kartsakhi area up to Turkish border.   

Irakli Songulia has also managed other large and small scale projects aimed at preparation and implementation of resettlement plans for various infrastructural projects, as well as at real property market development, protection of the right of national minorities, etc.
