Development of Land Use Plan for Borjomi and Bakuriani Surrounding Territories

Project Abstract: To achieve sustainable development and healthy living environment in the country, modern methods of spatial planning are to be attributed significant attention. Development of land use general plan, which defines the settlement and land structure, land use principles and potential is thought essential precondition for urban and regional planning. Association for protection of Landowners’ Rights, within the scope of the contract signed with Borjomi municipality, is responsible to elaborate general land use plan for certain territories in Borjomi rayon. The plan is to identify urban and agricultural lands and natural landscapes, structure of settlements, main engineering networks and transport infrastructure, areas suitable for settlement and infrastructure development, underdeveloped territories; recreational and forest development zones; areas used for public interests; as well as to draft land use principles and development perspectives. Based on analyses of local specific futures, importance and structure of existing settlements, APLR specialists, in cooperation with local municipality, draft the strategy for the development of project covered territories. Through the modern GIS technologies APLR carries out topographic surveys and vertical planning and prepares maps dividing said territories into zones according to the land use. The project also envisions elaboration of the rule for the land use and settlement regulation, as well as systematization of research results and formation of databases. Together with the project related works quality control is ensured in accordance with the ISO 9000, 9001 and 19011 standards. As a result of the works fulfilled by APLR the client gets thematic reports, guidelines and recommendations for land use, general and detailed zoning maps depicting the structure and development perspectives of the project covered territories. Project implementation supports formation of local policy for spatial planning, rational resettlement, land use and construction, development of engineering and transport infrastructure, improvement of economic and social efficiency of mentioned areas, maintenance of cultural heritage and environment protection. |
