Location: City of Poti, Georgia

Activity Dates: July, 2009 – March, 2010

Source of Funding: RAKIA Georgia Free Industrial Zone

Project Abstract:

To achieve rapid economic growth in the country, attract investments and create favorable business environment, Poti Free Industrial Zone was created in the city of Poti, on the black sea coastal zone of Georgia. Rakia Georgia Free Industrial Zone LLC is the investor company responsible for the development of FIZ.

Within the scope of FIZ, Poti Port will be reconstructed, enlarged and equipped with the modern technologies; it is also planned to ensure infrastructure development within the city and adjoining areas.

In order to meet international and local standards of urban development, creation of regulation plan of FIZ is required. The Investor Company contracted Association for Protection of Landowners’ Rights to prepare such a plan.

To achieve the set objective APLR studies the settlements’ structure in the FIZ, differentiates urban and agricultural lands; identifies underdeveloped areas, communication and engineering networks and their capacities, functions of urban zones and subzones; specifies parameters for coastal zone protection and develops respective zoning scheme.  Based on above works, construction regulation plan is prepared. In particular, specific conditions for urban planning and infrastructure development, as well as construction parameters are specified.

APLR also prepares Construction Manual for the investors describing in detail terms and conditions set forth by the construction related legislation of Georgia.

Preparing construction regulation plan ensures efficient use of the FIZ resources, reduced impact on the environment and reasonable urban development within the respective area.
