Location: Gori Rayon

Activity Dates: September, 2001 – December, 2003

Source of Funding: UNDP

Project Abstract

As for the year of 2001, various donor-supported international projects were carrying out intensive land survey and registration activities throughout Georgia; however, some of the lands still remained uncovered. Gori Rayon was among those areas that had not been surveyed and registered for that time.

APLR has won the tender of the UNDP for the implementation of cadastral works in Gori Rayon. Project activities include land cadastre and registration for both agricultural and non-agricultural land.

Within the frame of the project APLR conducts cadastral works through the modern technologies, prepares information for systematic registration, develops ground control point network and orthophotos, creates database on land related ownership rights for land registration, and designs cadastral and additional maps. Approximately 135,000 land parcels are surveyed and registered under the project. The available registration data are publicly displayed for increased landowner input in correction of survey errors. As additional activities, APLR organizes ceremonies for the transfer of titling certificates to landowners.

The project contributes to the completion of cadastral information databases and encourages land market development.
